A little filing here and there and the new cowling fits perfectly!

I would image cutting one part, it would hard to beat the scroll saw, but for cutting many parts the laser is the way to go. I use the band saw most and finish the parts on the 12" disc sander. I would say the disc sander is the most used tool in the shop, sand wood , fiberglass, all types of metal and even sharpen drill bits. Have a Craftsman shop vac hooked to the power button for dust control, without it it really makes a mess.

After having a bit of a tough time getting started this season just had a bunch of small things go wrong just one after another. Hopefully getting a head of it all, at one stage I had 6 planes in the shop needing one thing or another. The Funtana is back together and ready to do a new maiden, and the Jett 1000 is also ready to do a new maiden. The Jett 1000 has a new firewall and the OS 75 replaced with a Jett engine This is the engine that nickel started pealing off the liner.

I need a dust cyclone for my shop vac and set up a better work area for all the sanding/cutting.

Been working on the 104NG after I plopped it. Thought I had more pictures but I’ll take some more of my progress later. I reverse engineered the landing block in CAD and laser cut it with my own rendition of birch ply with a carbon/red Kevlar bonded to it.

The other thing taking up all my time is making all these medallions for a local race. This is the third year I’ve made these, obviously aug 2nd is really super close so I’ve been chomping at the bit.
