    57 SC Discussion

A fellow club member has an 87 and the rudder is massive on that also. I can not believe the servos can push against all that air.

What are they made from? I will keep them in mind, it might be worth the money because It would save me the hassle and time it would take to make my dowel rod spacers. Also are they strong, and lightweight?

    57 SC Discussion

I am comparing the rudder of this plane to that of my 51 slick, and the extras rudder is massive!! I can not believe how large the rudder is. Also the stickers that come with the plane look great. Now I have to go and get me some dowl rods to make some spacers for my motrofly 4315-714 motor.

    57 SC Discussion

I can not weight to start the build on this bird. All I have left to purchase is the HS-7245mg digital Hv servos and extension and aluminum arms. I have a feeling this may replace my 51'' as my go to plane to take to the field.

    57 SC Discussion

those are some good suggestions. I might use some sandpaper. I had not thought about that, it would probably only take me 10 minutes to fix that. Did Ben say anything about the cowl not fitting?

    57 SC Discussion

the more I look at it it looks like it might not have been molded right. As for the wing tube I am not saying you are wrong, and I may end up doing that, but I want to weight and see what 3dhs wants to do.

    57 SC Discussion

the cowl is a bit strange it is about 2mm to small and will not fit on the plane. As for the wing tube I have not tried any lube, but I do not think it would help, I have to really push it to get it in. I will see what 3dhs says when they E-mail me back, I am sure they will have a quick and...

    57 SC Discussion

I just got my brand new extra. I did not think it would be so much bigger than my 51'' slick. I can not weight to fly it next year. The only issues I have run into is the cowl has some chipped paint and does not fit and the wing-tube is too tight. I sent an E-mail to 3dhs and am sure they will...

Discussion What's a good first balsa plane?

I have never flown or seen an extramflight plane in person, but I do fly 3d and for me the extra is more wild than the edge. 3DHS version anyhow.

Discussion What's a good first balsa plane?

there is not one thing I would change about the extra. I think you would benefit greatly from it. As far as some may say about the carbon gear all I have to say is I have never broken carbon gear on a 48'' plane but I repeatedly bend the wire gear on my edge. And I fly off a grass runway.

Discussion What's a good first balsa plane?

The edge just is not fit my flying style. No matter what I do I always feel as if I am fighting it to do anything. where as the extra I am locked into every maneuver and even doing rolling harriers inches off the ground. another big issue with the edge is the wire gear is nothing but garbage. I...

Discussion What's a good first balsa plane?

the 48'' edge is not the best plane, you would be better off with the 47 extra. The edge has to be the only plane from 3dhs I am not pleased with.

Discussion What's a good first balsa plane?

go for the 51'' slick, it handles the wind great. It has to be the best flying plane I have. At least the ones i have flown, I am weight for a 57 extra to get here so that might take number one:D.

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

An example I could think of is the 3dhs 48'' edge VS the 51'' slick. on paper it is only a 3'' differences. However when both are sitting next to one another the slick dwarfs the edge, and also requires a much larger motor along with everything else. My guess is it is the same case with this...
