Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I would get a chuck for the tail stock if you don't have one and the live center. The four jaw chuck is nice but if you do plan to get a bigger machine I would wait. I think I used my face plate once in the past seven years or so. The 3 jaw chuck and the tail stock drill are used 98% of the...

How does the lathe work? Did you get all the tooling with it?

Did you tap the tube or just screw the axle in? Now when you get that lathe you can make yourself a set of drums and backing plates.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Kind of loss steam on this project over the holiday season. I have the rudder pull-pull completed and have a plan for the elevator control. The next step will be the wing lift struts, with all the talk about lathes and small parts decided to make the wing lift strut forks. The full scale are...

Disagree, a better bigger one will make all the small parts you need. It will cost you twice as much to tool both.

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

No mine did not, I used balsa sheeted cores with a carbon fiber arrow shaft spar. These were Monokoted and epoxied in place after the fuselage was painted. The original Byrofoam core and replacements are show below. The original design was removable allowing for some play. How are your finished?

The copper sheet was too thin for my liking so used .050" thick brass sheet. Got to use the Balsa USA Nicopress tool as well that I picked up at Toledo this past year. Once the rudder cable runs are finalized can finish up the elevator linkage

Working on the rudder pull-pull, hinge pins and the elevator control linkage. Found a photo of the full scale part on line. Need to come up with two clevises for the rudder cables, right thinking of forming them from copper sheet.

    Best Blades?

I have about 1000 #11 in stock, I did buy some of the scalpel blades for a trail and really don't remember the outcome, I didn't like the individual rapped packets. I do like the No 5 and No 6 handles, don't roll off the bench.

This tail wheel was available years ago, might look on Ebay. It truly is a thing of beauty. You might look at these http://www.ohio-superstar.com/spring-style-tail-wheels/sg68gnf1jaerwt7rg4w11v5ij6s6m8

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Here's a photo from yesterday, was center drilling a piece stock to hold the rod end screws while the heads were faced. Took 12" of the way just to drill, needed to push the tailstock out of the to tap, this is why a larger machine is better. I would get the 30" bed if possible

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Grizzly tools has a wide selection. I think all are built by Sieg in China.
