Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Great day yesterday at the field, 72f, winds light and variable, not a cloud in the sky. Flew four routine sets on the Super Cub, each set takes about 10 minutes. The grass is growing like crazy with the rain we had and extra CO2 in the air! And it was cut on Friday, I could barely see the 5...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Doing a little work on the Champ to get ready for upcoming contests. Pulled out the static judging sheets from last year's Fall Classic. Lost 10 point on the craftsmanship section of the judging because of two things that I was aware of. First thing were the wing fairings, when built the...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Found these sanding sticks on Amazon. These work very well sanding the ends of the corrugations. Was trying to sand with my finger but that didn't work very well! The sticks have a flat side and a round side, nice for getting into tight places.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Zoom in and it will look bigger, we'll never know! Yes. You have turned into quite the building machine Snoopy.

The local autobody supply that I normally go to could not decipher the Imron paint code, when a little farther away to a store that sells DuPont products, identified the red code and had them mix a quart of acrylic enamel paint. Still working on the ailerons and flaps, the corrugations are...

Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

Great idea! Might use that in the future. Same here, rain, rain, rain, a week ago Saturday was opening day for the grandson's Little League, they managed to play only one game in the past 10 days between both of them! Maybe they will get to play tonight?

I think I would just drill as you go, good chance half the holes will never be used! Just added a 4" diameter disc to my McMaster Carr order, $14, thanks Steven.

Where's the chips? I assume that is the 6" chuck?

I think this one would be better, not bad for $100.

More tooling from AliExpress, adjustable VEE block and cutoff and grooving tools, 2mm through 5mm. Took two orders to get the cutoff tools, some of the items on the first order were canceled.

Once it takes hold, I think you will find the EdgeTX very capable and can do anything you can image.

Not sure what plan this is, know it's not A or B! From right to left the various coating s tried, red and and white peel coat (No), multi texture paint coated with peel coat (No), satin finish stone gray (Too light and no depth), hammered white paint (texture too large), hammered white dusted...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

It took quite a few chips to marry the 5" 4 jaw chuck to the 6" adapter, but it is done. Much better fit for the lathe, the carriage can pass under the chuck, not so for the 6" 4 jaw. Need a project for it now.
