    Dual rates

I fly with triple rates and those are high rate, normal fly around rate, and snap rate. Normally when I just go for a demo flight or something I just fly on high rates, but when I am flying a routine to music or an IMAC routine, I am constantly switching between different rates. It's more of...

    Help! My hovering sucks.. help!

Yep, the throttle is basically another control surface. It will require costant adjustment most of the time. On calm days you can find that sweet spot and leave the throttle alone for a few seconds but that's about it. Yes, I do tend to pulse the throttle more when I notice I need more effective...

    Discussion Organizing RC events

I will have to give this some thought so I will bring it to dads attention. One thing that really made us want to go to an event was who was going to be there. We were always more likely to go to events where companies would attend or big names in the hobby would attend. I went to my first...

    Rolling harriers/circles question

Timing would be my first guess. There are basically 2 things to learning rollers. First, you have to learn the rhythm(inputs). Once you have those mastered, then you can begin to adapt the rhythm to match the roll rate of the plane. This is how I approached rollers and it worked very well. Don't...

    Help! My hovering sucks.. help!

Pulsing usually works well if you can't seem to find the sweet. Some planes I pulse the throttle and others I just hold it in the sweet spot.

    Help! My hovering sucks.. help!

Hovering is a lot about practice only because it's not just a set of stick inputs you have to learn. It is a maneuver that requires constant attention and corrections. On a calm day, the plane should hang fairly effortlessly and require very small inputs. On a windy day, you will have to fight...

    Future Joe Smith Airframe?

I've mentioned that I hope to get into designing planes in the future but that is as far as it goes for now.

    VPP setup?

I am using the mamo models VPP setup. It's the same one that all of the ETOC pilots used this year. The plane must be extremely light and the system has to be setup perfectly for it all to work. So you basically have no control why you are in the inverted hover. You simply bounce the...

    Sweet Skills with KE Spin

50 degrees should be plenty. I have found that the entry technique that you described is the hardest one to get right everytime. Usually the reason the plane falls out of it is because you are not using enough left aileron. On the 42 you can use full rudder, full down elev. and a little...

    Focus areas

Right at first I was scared of crashing so I flew pretty high all of the time. As I started progressing and built more confidence in my flying, I started to fly lower and lower. I was like that for a few years. This past summer hasn't been the best due to equipment issues and such so my...

    Focus areas

I have never really set a goal for x number of hours to practice. I basically practice every spare second I can get.

    Vortex Generators?

Yep, I have been doing lots of testing with them. I had them all over my 87" shp for King 50 this year. On some planes they make a fairly big difference and other planes it's hard to tell. They basically make the air feel thicker. The plane has a much cleaner stall transition and you have much...

    30CC Question...

Hmmm, that is really all about practice. You need to be extremely comfortable with rollers in order to start inputting throttle at various times. The throttle should be inputted at knife positions which will cause the left gimble to make a "U" shape. I input throttle a lot more than that now...

    30CC Question...

Nope, the 48 and 74 are not the same design. The 74 is a more high energy oriented plane. It also rolls much quicker.

    30CC Question...

    Great post!!!!

    First Question?!?!

Well a plane naturally drifts in a counter clockwise direction so you always have to be pulling it towards a clockwise circle in order to keep it going straight.

What is your setup on your 87?

I personally prefer the Sulivan Skywriter pump, mine quit working right before k50 so I threw the harris in my 87.

    30CC Question...

The 74 is a completely different design from the 41 so they don't fly alike imo. You will love both airframes, I promise. I always recommend against switches unless they are failsafe. Avoid using a choke servo, the extra weight and potential failure point is not needed.
  19. F

    First Question?!?!

I have noticed that planes generally want to drift to the left during rolling harriers which makes circles easier. Try to actually do a clockwise circle and you should notice that constantly trying to do that should keep the plane going somewhat straight

What is your setup on your 87?

The setup in my 87 for king 50 was: DA60 Falcon 24x9 gas carbon Harris smoke pump Smartfly igntion cutoff and regulator 7955mg servos all around Futaba 8 ch. receiver Custom power expander/ battery share unit that dad and I built.
