    Radio Wars, Part 2

I have smaller hands and have held my Dad's (Willfly2) DX8 for setup and a few flights, I also owned a JR 9503x and compared to my new Futaba 8FGS they were both too bulky (for me). I kept slipping on the sticks, after the switch I feel totally in control. This in addition to the programmable...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

I'm with you on this one. I have been telling my Dad (willfly2) that he needs to get a hold of one of these for that very reason. I am excited to see how he progresses once he has one!

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

IMO the 48" Wattaslick Slick flies similar in characteristics to the 3DHS 59" Slick that I own, with the exception of it being more twitchy and not being as stable in a harrier. I'm sure there are a few more differences, but the point is: Don't be afraid to build up that balsa kit and fly it...

Thank you for this write up. This information is invaluable!

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Great info, thanks! One of the greatest benefits about EPP to me is how quickly you can be back in the air after a crash especially with CA and accelerator! What kind of time frame are we talking with the Beacon or Welders? I have no experience with those. Also, what about the 'Foam-Cure' on...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Its fun to see that you like this so much. You are typically flying larger airframes right? My goal has been to use these EPPs to do all the things I am afraid to try with my 7?" birds, so to see your response on this makes me think I made the right choice!

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

In the past I have been using straight thin CA for repairs on my epp planes. What do you guys use for repairing EPP? Should I get ahold of some welders?

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

If I understand correctly you are running the Motrolfly 2815. However, the motor I have on here is the 2820 series. I was pulling like 48a on a 13x6.5 on 3s creating 520w. I would assume that moving into that 14x7 would put me over wouldn't it?

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Well I was able to get a maiden on the Watta-Slick between storm fronts here in MN. I ended up using an ICE 50 for the maiden so I was a little limited in my options for props to stay within that amperage. I'm running the Motrolfly 2820-950 its an absolute monster on this airframe. Checking...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Oops I meant 180 watts per pound (corrected above). Thanks for all the info. I am gonna upload some data soon on my prop and battery findings as soon as I can.

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Thanks Gyro! Just did a wattmeter test and found that I am pulling 48a on the 13x6.5 with a 3s battery creating around 180 watts per pound. All other things constant, would moving up to a 4s battery drop my amperage and give me more watts?

Speaking of throws; what are the recommended throws for the slick?

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Airframe is together. What an easy build, just effortless! I bought the 2820-950 from Ken and it is a perfect fit. There will be a slightly bigger spinner gap than I prefer, but the extra power will be worth it! I did have to trim (just a bit) the cowling to stop the front of the motor...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Got my slick today in the mail. I am really impressed with the solidity of the airframe and the overall quality of the components. I didn't expect that much bang for the amount I spent on the plane. Did decide to go Motrolfly as the Leopard is was too long and about an ounce heavier. I am...

Hitec Servos Burning or seizing on new Futaba setup.

Interesting... I will look into this. I do have the radio set for maximum end points. Would this matter even if the servo isn't moving to its fullest end point? I do have limits set to decrease full extension of the surface (to limit control surface binding). In theory the servo shouldn't be...

Hitec Servos Burning or seizing on new Futaba setup.

Hey guys: I just burnt up my 3rd Hitec servo on the new Futaba RX's in two different airplanes. I have made sure that the Futaba receivers were not set to 'High Speed' mode, and there was no indication of buzzing or jittering suggesting they were in this HS mode and end points were set so no...

    Futaba 8FG(S)

Thanks Cody. Just checked it and its 6.09v on the foamy. I will double check the CC BEC on the Slick. With the exception of the HS-5245MG, I have been flying in near freezing conditions... would this have any negative effect due to moisture from condensation?
