    Addiction XL Build??

Next I got the elevator in. First pic showed how far I had to adjust a couple of hinges from the original slot. The sharpie mark is where I had to move them. Then I sealed the gap with the supplies covering.

    Addiction XL Build??

Got the slot cut open for the stab and got it glued in. This was the first time that I didn't have to adjust the stab at all, before gluing it in place. It was plum, square, and level first fit!

    Addiction XL Build??

Motor box is on. You also need to make sure that you epoxy the entirety of the carbon rod along the former.

    Addiction XL Build??

After test fitting the motor box, I found that the carbon rod that goes in front of the former is impeded by some glue holding the battery tray in place. I had to remove the glue before permanently gluing the motor box on.

    Addiction XL Build??

Yep, with the new style motor they have it hanging off the front. I like it better too. Just hope they made sure the cowl will have the right positioning. Still have to check that!

    Addiction XL Build??

Next I test fitted the motor to the motor box, and noticed that part of the glue joint must be removed to get the motor mount to sit flat on the motor box.

    Addiction XL Build??

Here's the method I used to glue on the fiber reinforcements on the Katana. Put a piece of wax paper over top, a piece of foam, then scrap ply, and use rubber bands to keep pressure on the assembly. I also like to use glass resin for the fiberglass.

    Addiction XL Build??

Ok, I decided to work on the motor mount next, as it takes several steps to complete. First step is to glue in 4 small pieces of fiberglass on the inside corners of the firewall. Use extra epoxy to reinforce the motor box joints throughout. Next, epoxy on the fiber reinforcements. Then epoxy on...

    Addiction XL Build??

Prepped the carbon horns and got them glued in. I used a round file to open up the clevis pin hole just a tad. Prepped the rods as per instructions, and got them glued in with epoxy. The carbon rods were just the right length in this one, no need to cut any off. I also had to drill the carbon...

    Addiction XL Build??

Next step is to work on the aileron servo installation. I opened up the servo hole by cutting down the center, then a diagonal cut from the corners to the center and ironing it all down into the servo hole. Once the servo is in place. Use a small drill bit to pre-drill the holes for the servo...

    Addiction XL Build??

With all the PA aircraft, they recommend no gap between the control surface and flying surface, and want 50* of travel. But it's not possible without re-shaping the leading edge of the ailerons and elevator. I choose not too, and just get what I can on throws. It's usually about 35 to 40* max...

    Addiction XL Build??

Yep, got the new 60 motor and new 80amp ESC. I've been flying the Addiction X for years now. The wife got me the XL for Christmas this year. I've been wanting one for some time now. I've also been flying the Katana MX for a couple of years. Love the PA aircraft!

    Addiction XL Build??

I know this isn't Giant Scale, or Gas Powered, but is anyone interested in a build thread? And can I post it here, or is there a better place? I'm taking a break from the Cub and have started assembly of this one for Spring time flying. Blessed day to all!

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Thanks Tony, Just shoot me your mailing address and I'll get them out to you. The Robart axle is too short, so I have to use the Airtop Axles. Just turning down the threaded part, plus maybe 1/8" will do great! Thank you!

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Can one of you guys, with a lathe, machine down these Airtop axles, "just the threaded portion", to the same size as the Robart axle? The Robart axle is 3/16" and the Airtop axles are 1/4".
