    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

Do we have a thread for this motor yet? I've only been waiting for two years for this sucker.... Matt... what ESC are you running with it?

    Gp-61

Okay, thanks... let me know if you get any static tach readings because it's tough to tell what those numbers mean in the air. On the ground at sea level between 60 and 70 degrees F, 7450 RPMs with a Falcon 24x10 CF prop requires 7.5 HP. If you are getting that off the telemetry, that also...

    Gp-61

I'm getting some reports of guys swinging a 24x10 standard Mejzlik on stock mufflers, and a decent mid-range pull on this engine. As I mentioned on the EME thread, a lot of air seems to have come out of the EME-60 balloon. I was wondering how this GP61 has lasted with the 3D pilots since its...

    3dhs 92" Edge 540

Also, as a reference, it looks like the empty airframe, before power and control components, is about 11 pounds. This means the Q80-8M setup with the Ice2 HV160, all up with mounts and 2x 6S 5000 batts, would be about 19.34 pounds, RTF. Considering the power of the 8M, this is a really nice...

    3dhs 92" Edge 540

Thanks for the info. These are a nice weights, and someone else sent me their weight of 18.9 on a DLE55 with a pipe -- I think it was a proflow. Anything under 19 is great, and under 18 would mean the power options are many.

    72" Extra 330SC

Great motor... I can't find a weight for that battery for some reason, but four ounces of capacity will certainly extend the flight time and put some of that dead weight to use.

    72" Extra 330SC

Which motor did you use and what batteries are you using? I like my 74 Edge so much that I may pick up one of these, but I prefer push-pull, so a small adjustment to the battery capacity and it may balance out just fine. If I remember correctly, a half-roll of quarters is 4 oz. With my 10S...

The problem is still if the 500g motor can handle a 21 and 22 prop to these RPM levels. Did you ask Ken straight out if you should do this? I'm in, if the answer is yes. 24 to 26 pounds is the type of performance that will transform the 78 Extra into something you will always want to have in...

Also, the Mejzlik 24x10 standard will spin faster than the 24x9 Falcon CF on the same engine, and the Mejzlik 24x10TH will spin faster than the 24x10 standard. I've confirmed this with someone else who tried them on the GP61, so if anyone has any different experience with them, please let me know.

Tom flew Frank's DA60 with the RE-2 on the 25A to 6930 RPMs and 41.7 pounds of thrust on the Rapala digital scale. He flew the Xoar 25x10 Beech the same weekend. About a pound less thrust because of the lower RPMs, but a little more pitch speed, it seemed. I took three videos with the 24x10...

Another thing to remember is that the big concentric bearings are going to be important for the high levels of angular momentum we run into with big props spinning fast in 3D maneuvers, and 12S means upping the RPM levels. For well-designed motors, like Hacker and Motrolfly, bigger bearings...

I'm still not sure I like a 20 inch prop on the 78. I'm not sure I like the 21, actually. The problem is that with 3D, the power at the top end RPMs is really not that important to me. For example, at 5000 RPMs, the 22x10 will produce 1500W and 11.5 pounds of thrust, the 21x10 will produce...

One of the guys that shares data on another thread is actually using the 20x8 PJN on 12S on a 4330 216Kv and has been running it for a very long time... peaks over 3180W at 8102 RPMs, and settles in a 2863W and 66A. It's a great power setup, IMO, and he's been running it for a long time...

I'll have to ask him again because the last time I had an email conversation with him about this was in March. He said that he did wind a 203Kv for someone on 12S and was suggesting a 19x8 to me for that setup. He also said that based on his graph, he thought that one more turn should get it...

Right, but that's 3000W at 8100 RPMs. The rest of the time, the 21x10 is going to produce more power and thrust on 10S. Actually, as I said earlier, a 21x10 at 6450 RPMs is producing more power and thrust than a 20x8 at 7900 RPMs. I don;t fly around at 7900 RPMs too often when flying 3D, so...

Yeah, that's only the new Edge HV ESCs. The Ice2 HV's work fine. Still have one the 78 with the A60-7S 28 pole, and had an HV160 with the Q80-7M. I am now buying the Jeti Mezon to couple with the 28 poles since 28 pole is one of their settings. I have one in the 74 Extra and it's great, but...

That Q80-13S is worth every dime. The Q80 motors I had are really top shelf, but they are expensive. I'd worry about the motor diameter tho. I sized my 7M and would have to move the thrust line down to fit it under the 78's hood. The 18L is a 149Kv motor, which means that even on 12S, you're...

It would be nice if they filled out all the sizes with all the Extra, Laser, Edge, MXS, and Yak EXPs, but a 70 or a 74 Laser or Edge would be two EXPs I'd snatch up in a heartbeat.

The only problem I see is that the difference between a 2-pack of 5000mAh 6S 40C batteries and a 4400mAh 6S 2-pack can be as much as 9.4 ounces. With that said, I've already flown a slightly heavier gas version of the 78 Extra converted to electric with 2x 40C 5000 Sky Lipos with an A60-16M...
