i got one too! it's free at the moment, we'll see what the faa does in the future. if i had to guess, you won't be asked very often about being registered but if one of your planes flies away or crashes into something, you'll be asked about registration in the process of whatever investigation...- Bartman

If the FAA does nothing more than this than it might not affect us very much at all. If they start charging for aircraft registrations then it becomes a nuisance. Worse though, if this is just a first step and the registration requirements become more complex and/or restrictive for hobby users...- Bartman
