    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

You can probably tell a couple things changed from the last picture. I didn't like the strait rudder arm... too much slack. I got a couple angled double arms from pro modeler. The set screws were ridiculously loose, in fact one screw would push all the way through the threads. Wasn't too...

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Made a Velcro patch in the most convenient place I could for the Rx battery. Scuffed it up a bit, added some welders glue, and finally tacked the Velcro in place.

Then solder them into my XT60 connector. Now I have two 20AWG leads coming from my Rx battery into my Rx. This is also my Receiver Switch. No need for a dual battery setup on a 30cc IMHO. Keep those birds as light and as simple as possible.

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Putting large pics in so you can see what's going on. Shouldn't have to jam the connectors in, but most of the time they'll need to be persuaded to make it all the way in. Inserted up to the insulation crimp. Using Needle nose pliers to gentley wiggle and force them in a bit. with 20AWG and...

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

This is hard to capture a picture of. Crimping 20AWG wire and putting into the connectors. I did make some extensions, and even had to redo them for length but you get the idea. Here I am making a Y-harness for my power leads up to an XT-60 plug to my single Rx battery. The crimper that I am...

http://milehighrc.com/EME_E_Start.html Seems like the $30 controller for an EME engine would work? HobbyWing makes some cheap but good quality ESCs as well http://milehighrc.com/ESC.htm

Castle Pheonix Edge HV 80A ESC + Futaba SBS-01C Current Sensor + XT90/S + in series I've never put Lipos in Series like this before, so that was different. This setup will be using two 6S batteries (12S total) which have XT90S connectors on them (Anti-Spark). I took the heat shrink off and...

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Almost forgot! 1.25" EF Arm. The way the geometery is set up you CANNOT reach full deflection bevel to bevel. As previously mentioned 38-40 degrees is all you need for aileron deflection, otherwise your rolls will actually slow down the plane. Creates too much drag in flight and is inefficient.

    3DHS 75" EDGE 540 V2 Assembly Thread

Aileron Servos. I learned a couple things. First - the MKS777 gen1 do not fit. They are too deep. I tried shims but it messed up the geometry for down deflection (the control surface horn hits the servo). However the MKS777A+ fit just great (overkill alert!!!). Second - Aileron deflection for...

Hate to quote myself :p But when I posted this Zach at Extreme Flight had it shipped out the next day. Great Customer Service, just need to give them a shout via telephone sometimes because I'm sure they get swamped. Fast forward to today. Still no backplate, I e-mailed extreme flight and Zach...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yeah... my billet plenum plate repair was about ten years ago. I also did what the dudes on the forums were recommending back then. HiTac was my second choice and should have been my first back then. I too thought about the whole new intake manifold but it was too $$...

    Awesome Video Thread

That Super Corsair has a neat little factoid. They had to change one blade in the hub, so instead of making look like the others they left that one white. I used to have a coffee mug with that plane on it. used to :cryin:. Reminds me of another coffee cup I used to have with a hellcat painted...

    Awesome Video Thread

I've changed many plugs on a R985 before. The front are easy, the rear  Have to remove oily baffles to get to them. The R985 is a single row 9cyl radial.... having extra rows... yuk!

Rave What's up with you Yanks!!

I don't have any big builds planned. Need to finish my 75" Edge ARF assembly, next might be a Unionville deHavilland Otter kit with a 6' wing... it has a round engine cowl, I'm thinking of changing the plans to make it a super otter (turboprop) and making it run off an electric motor. Thinking a...

You can add your progress on my build thread (encouraged!!) Still love the plane, and has been my go to plane for the last year! Happy to give any guidance. Pictures are a must! What scheme did you go with?

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I've been debating to get the tundra or the fms PA18.... still unsure. I like the XT60's ok. Deans/T-Connectors were my go to, it's possible if your not careful to warp the flat connector during soldering ( a heat sink helps) but if it doesn't mate flush it will not make a very good connection...
