The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Had a blast for a few hours today. Got sunburnt as hell but had fun. Cartwheeled the little green mojo40 but nothing was damaged. Also flew the sbach65 and was playing with the tune on the DLE 20. Getting it closer but still needs to be leaned out a little bit more.

Kinda windy today but who cares I'm gonna enjoy a couple hours of sunshine at the field with some slab action.

I put one of the rexcel ignition kill switches in my sbach profile and really like it.

Yup it's already fixed and ready for round two. Hopeful the weather holds this weekend and I can take it out for some fun.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Took my sbach65 out for some fun today. Got two flights in on it. Adjusted the CG from the maiden as it was way tail heavy. These two flights it flew more like I wanted it to. Botched the second landing though. It hit kinda hard but not real hard and the gear folded up under it. Found the...

Share your ideas for safe pre-flight and flying

I am one that is left handed and I do as Dennis said. I have the prop at around the 8 o'clock position making me swing the prop from underneath the cowl. It's iust what feels natural to me but I have been told at the field before I'm doing it wrong. My biggest pet peeve with starting though is...

Share your ideas for safe pre-flight and flying

I follow many of those same rules. Neck strap I always tuck into my shirt and I do start with my bare hand on my 55cc planes. My 20cc and smaller get started with a starter and I will admit I use a stand for them. I never though try to carry my plane to the flight line. Once it's running the way...

Did a lot of covering on a slab today but also got the hangar nine edge back out and started taping the cowl for paint. Might throw some color at it in the morning.

    Acid/Epoxy Brushes Source

Last time I bought acid brushes I got them from McMaster Carr. Can't remember the price though.

These are the specs on my smaller version of the pic I posted earlier. It's cubic loading is just shy of 6 cu in. The bigger purple one I posted the pic of is around 6-1/4. Typical slab say mojos, primos and such are in the mid to low 4's for cubic loading and your typical 3D fattie is more...

@Snoopy1 i would recommend an airfoil similar to what a buddy and I used on this edge. It is a naca 0018 at the root rib transitioning to a naca 0015 at the tip. Shoot for around 850-900 square inches of wing area and you should be good to go. Build it light and try to cut weight in the rest of...

    Sport The 182 gets "Gassed"

I enjoy flying things in a scale manner but one or two flights and I'm itching to drag the rudder down the runway though.

Depends on what your looking for. Do you want something that is slow stable and floaty or to you want something that will carry energy nicely but still remain stable in a stalled attitude?

Covering the fuse on a slab this morning before leaving for work this morning. Got greeted by a fire that had just been put out at work so it's been a long day. Had a 300hp motor decide it was its time to stop running which set many other things on fire. Hell of a last day before enjoying three...

I have made a couple for local guys. Problem is you gotta build them custom to each can.

Lucky you. Mine runs great but I have had to use the starter to get it running.

That sucks though. We screw with one of the older guys in our club that has a couple MDS engines and we always will say here comes that mostly dead stick plane. 9 times out of 10 he has to deadstick the plane.
