    i'm basically doing the drive just to drop them off! the moving company is coming to pack us up wednesday and thursday and i won't even be here! i'm going to enjoy Joe Nall but when the time comes to roll out I'm going to double time it back home!

    the manual for that charger only lists Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion so it doesn't look like it'll do A123. a dedicated A123 charger wouldn't cost much and would be worth it to run A123 packs. I'd prefer that over using LiPo's and a regulator just because you have the LiPo charger.

    a compromise between what you're planning and what Xpress said would be to use a 2300 mah 2 cell A123 pack without a regulator. 6.6 volts which most modern servos can handle and it's still simple being that there's no regulator. A123 packs are easy to charge if you're not familiar with them...

    Isn't John Glenzellis in Connecticut? He writes the IMAC/pattern column in Model Aviation....maybe he'd do an intro seminar for newcomers the morning of the contest? I had to call him about something and he was very friendly.
