Weight is the simple reason. It already flies on the heavy side with a 4s 2200.

Ho ho HOLY ship batman!! She SCREAMS on 4S!!!! I'm still only managing 5 minutes of flight time, but now there's nearly 2x the power on 4s 2200's. The extra weight didn't seem to bother it either. At least I have 2 options now- run a larger prop and a 2700mah 3S pack for flight times...

Huckin' the little guy at the local school field last night. Been wanting to upgrade to a Phoenix Edge Lite 50 ESC so I can program the BEC to 6.5 volts to give the servos a boost in power. 5.5v works for most, but getting blowback when you're trying to crank it up isn't the most fun...

Finally sourced a canopy for the Mentor! :D Or so I thought  Turns out it's a canopy for a Magister, which is a few inches longer. Cut the excess off and it fit like a glove  I was the same way until my foot injury. It's just not fun driving a stick for extended periods of...

It was a perfect evening to score some more stick time on the Mentor. I swapped a bigger motor into it and now it's got a gratuity of power :):) Still on the lookout for a canopy though :oblong:

Got everything in place, FJU is ready for maiden, sans paint/decals. Nearly 1000w on tap should make it haul the mail :oblong:

I think you need a cheeseburger to get your brain trackin straight again:epic: 35mm 1000kv outrunner is what's in my 48" Slick, swingin' a 13x6.5 on 3S 2200's. The stock powerpack for the FJU runs a 35mm 2900kv outrunner on 3s, and swings a 6x5.5 prop...

1000kv is a bit too low on the rpm, that would swing a much larger prop very easily. We suggest a 2900kv 35mm outrunner with an APC 6.5x5.5 prop on 3s, I have a 2600kv outrunner I need to swap shafts to get to work but I think it should fly it well.

Did the maiden flight on the Multiplex Mentor last night. I need to locate a canopy still but otherwise it flies great. I also need to prop up, the 13x4E is too little prop for the motor. It's rated to handle 400w/40 amps and I'm barely sucking 20 amps out of it, thinking a 14x7E should do...

It's been a fairly productive few days. Aside from having to dig up and repair one of our water mains :oblong: I completed an older Multiplex Mentor from a load of parts I had on hand. Just need to find a canopy now. And I gave the old XTM Mammoth a spit shine yesterday since it was filthy...
