Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

I've used Power Box before, it was the .5mm2 for the power and ,35mm2 for the signal. The insulation is thinner and even though the .5mm2 wire is about 20 gauge it crimped and slide into the housing easily I don't think Power Box offers that wire any longer, only 3 x.35mm@, I could be wrong...

The new wing tube arrived, it measures 1.126", it fits so I'm happy, snug fit. Laid up the fuselage socket on it, should start to fit the socket tomorrow. Maybe prebend the balsa for the dash as well.

Putting the green on the positive is just wrong! But I agree.

And the foam for the dash is cut. Don't have any 3/16" sheet in stock so I will cut a few sheet from a balsa block, should be fun.

The remote switch and 10 meters of servo wire arrived yesterday. Let's see, a new color combination to figure out, Futaba red, black, white. JR, red, brown, yellow. Hitec, red, black, yellow. Power Box, red, blue, white. And now AR, could use Black hot, white neutral (Ground) green signal...

Sounds like you really like Biplanes! I sold my only biplane last year at a local auction, 38% Christen Eagle built from Frank Knoll plans. I did modify the construction to eliminate the crutch method of building the fuselage and added a canister. Built in 2006, ZDZ80RV,JMB can, Hitec 5945...

Just wondering what planes are you thinking about to replace those you plan to sell?

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Started thinking about the dash. Found a nice outline drawing online of the dash and had Staples increase the size to the proper scale. The dash salvaged from the original Cherokee isn't deep enough to accommodate the yokes so it looks a new dash is needed. Thinking I will cut the dash panel...

It became obvious in short order that the hole on the backside of the fairing was going to be a problem, matter of fact I broke out the second hole while drilling. A second pair with Kevlar reinforcement was laid up, Kevlar is amazing, can't say here what it reminds me of. It is a pain to work...

FrSky offers a nice remote switch for their redundancy buss units, like most new offerings from FrSky you need to be on ETHOS to configure the devices. My X9D radio does everything I could possibly want so I'm still using OpenTX. For the Super Cub an Advanced Radio Reg-Switch with a wireless...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

When I built the previous Cherokee, the landing was made to provide clearance for a 25" propeller. The recommended propeller for the FG61 is 21"-23". 23" would the correct scale size. With this in mind I decided to cut a little over and inch out the RoboStruts. The wing tube seems to be...

Randy, is the center section sheeted and glassed as well? I was expecting to see a full depth brace. Looking real nice. I love looking at all the lightening in straight alignment.

Put the glass to the bottom of the right wing, might get the top on later today at which both wings will be at the same point in the build, got a shipping notice from Wicks so hopefully the new wing tube will be here in a few days. I need the wing tube in the fuselage so that the wing roots can...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

I bought the contest sheeting on a sale from National Balsa, I think it was 25 sheets for $99. Not bad considering they currently show 3" x 1/8" x 36" at $9.02 ea and the 48" long is $13.62! I would have loved to have 48" sheets!

Well my 1 1/8" x .049" x 36" tube arrived late today, looks real nice, however the tube I used to make the wing sockets measures 1.124" and the new tube measures 1.128", guess what, it doesn't fit! Ordered another tube from Wicks Aircraft today, hopefully it is smaller. Kinda takes the wind...

Decided to go with 3/4 ounce cloth. The 1 1/2 ounce would add 8 ounces. The bottom of the left wing is glassed, may get the top later today. The 3/4 ounce cloth is easier to work with than the .56 ounce cloth. Carving the trailing edge on the right wing,
