Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

OK I got a couple of doors to paint the trim, could finish today but decided to take the day off to rest my weary bones, the gransons are coming over tomorrow at 2:00 for a sleep over so I will not get back to the paint until Tuesday. Cleaned a spot off on the bench and began the covering off...

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

Just like your friend, sanded and painted the cowl and canopy too many times. Considered recovering the plane so that I could match the colors. I have two 38% One Designs, one designed by Bob Godfrey, and this one was designed by Frank Knoll. Would like to get them both to the field for a fun...

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I take a wing or a stab to the paint store that they put the camera on. Only color they could not match was the fluorescent green from Hobby King. Can't tell you how different brands I tired. Here is the color scheme I was looking for and a photo of the model wing. Now fast forward 6 years...

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I had good luck with automotive paint, cost a little more but the match is good. I get Omni paint, a little cheaper that PPG but works well. Here's a few examples, al of these are Monokote.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Arrived today, will be returned tomorrow. The Robart pin measured .180" so that's what I made them. The pins are just a hair under 6 mm, .230".

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

That's a 100L? I had thought that the DA 100's had the plugs in the middle of the cylinder head, I guess they moved the location for the L version? How much weight do you put on the stand?

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

No I have not seen one, assume the engine fires alternately, would image it would sound like a 4 cylinder two stroke and much smoother than the a boxer twin? You building a war bird?

Great flying, beautiful sky and back round. Was that a frozen lake? Looked very flat. Just how cold was it? Too cold for for sure.
  15. TonyHallo

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I use the copper based RTV for the exhaust flanges all the time. Don't have a stand, just mount the engine in the plane and set it up in the back yard. Neighbors just love it!
  16. TonyHallo

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Yes but it will not be fun. I'm getting close to restarting the project, might be pretty close to finishing the punch list items on my remodeling list. Still need to install gas logs in the fireplace but I do have the logs yet. Thinking I will cover the stab, elevators and rudder first to...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

So just to be certain, you want the threaded portion plus 1/8" past turned down to the diameter of the Robart axle. How would you like the shoulder finished? Square, tapered, or radius? I'm thinking a square end would just butt the Robart housing an look good.
  18. TonyHallo

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Sure, you want 1/4" threads turned down to 3/16"? How long do you the 3/16" area to be? Can you make a drawing? I've made 1/4" axles out of 1/4" bolts, turn the head down to 5/16" or so and make it thinner, eliminate the need for wheel collars. The other option is to use 1/4" and 7/32" KS...
