Proton! The latest Pitts Model 12

It took several hundred hours to paint this aircraft. 12 colors then cleared, sanded with 600 wet and applied drop shadow then cleared again. Also keep in mind, that all of the aluminum panels are painted inside and out which means that the plane has to go together and get taken apart many times. Not to mention the control surfaces, coves, canopy, cowling, etc that have to go on and off through the entire process. So in the end I think it took about four months to complete the entire aircraft.

These are higher rez pics than I have but not many around. I can see enough of the top wing I can get by, maybe alittle creative licensing required. Any Idea what the bottom of the bottom wing looks like? I figure I can do my 30cc Yak like super Dave Matheson I can tackle this in the fall. Just like to collect data up front.

Almost 3 years ago since this one was unveiled to the public at Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland, FL.
I can tell you that the photos DO NOT do this aircraft justice. It’s absolutely, positively exquisite!!!

Ten years ago yesterday, I was at the shop visiting the family with two distinguished guests from Italy. We spent a wonderful day together making memories, and prepping both the airplane and all the gear for the booth at Sun ‘n Fun. Anyone watching would have been thoroughly entertained as we repositioned the airplane countless times for the perfect photos. Of course it looks gorgeous from every angle, Incredible day but sure doesn’t seem like so much time has passed!
