FLI V at the 114th Sponsored by 3DHS and 3DRCFORUMS

Cool, so your post says 10 feet. Do most guys flying large planes just stay high altitude to keep the noise level down ? I can understand hovering and such, just don't mash the gas on pull out. No problem there......thanks for the reply

After that, put the cowl completely on and check alignment. Then, strip it down and install blind nuts....... Good thing about pinning the firewall is its easy to get it back where you had it. I then take it all apart and epoxy it all up. After 24 hours of drying I will...

Managed to get the motor mostly done as well. First, sanded and pinned firewall where manual says to place it. Drilled the motor holes that are already marked from Pilot for the DA100..... Then I mounted cowl and measured from firewall to end of cowl to figure out what length stand off I...

You have a CC100 AMP ESC and 6S packs already. My recommendation would be to get a motor that can run the biggest prop possible on this plane. I fly ONLY 3D and have for years, this plane likes the big prop.

Ok, now I'm getting it, I think......when I was on 8S, I was around 2800 Watts. I think I confused myself by pulling less Watts on 6S, not AMPS. Is that accurate ?

    So, running a 6S to a 8S, 6S would pull more AMPS ?? I went down in AMPS going from 8S 18x8 to a 20x10 on 6S.....Im confused Gary...lol

A lot depends on your motor choice, but personally I would go Motor-fly and a setup to run the biggest prop you can. The more air you can push over the plane in most 3D maneuvers will be best. You could even go to a 21x10 prop with the right setup like Joe runs. I would just stick with 6S packs.

Also, Joe Smith flies this plane on 6S 5000 packs and a Hacker A60-6XS. I believe I heard its his favorite plane to fly.

OK, I started off running 8S (2 4S 3800 in series) on a 18x8 prop with CC 100AMP ESC, Hacker A50-12L motor. The plane was ballistic fast and a rocket, but not enough prop for 3D. I was also pushing close the the limit of the ESC around 90 AMPS. That being said, going to a bigger prop was NOT an...
