15 year old amazes crowd at big RC show

Rory is pretty good! He is a huge contributor to a lot of the new 3D planes available on the swap pages for Real Flight Simulator. Him and one of his buddies create the planes, post them, and host a lot of sessions. Pretty awesome to have such great young talent in the RC world.

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Threw my mini-dart after work yesterday and not only did I catch an interest with a group of young kids that were part of a robotics class... but I finally caught some wicked thermals. They were big enough I could circle inside them without loosing altitude and really noticed when I left the...

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

Finally!!! I’m off swing shifts and got to maiden this beauty! CG was spot on, had a very slight roll to the right. Only got two break in flights and need to tune the motor as the transition was not so good and my last flight the propeller stopped turning... but landed great! So far, it flies...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

So much truth to this. The hunt for earthly signs of lift and the struggle to find it in less than ideal conditions will never have you looking at the ground the same. Listen to Joe Wurts talk about low level thermal soaring and you'll see just how far a guy can get into it. It's such an art and...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It is a elusive sport with acronyms LOL. DLG, HLG, RES, F3K, F5J... ect It's taken me some time to understand some of them. SS - Slope Soaring (wind hits a pinnacle of some sort to allow moving air to rise upward from it - producing lift DLG - Discus Launch Glider (Spin around in a circle...

@BalsaDust I made my own little tray for the Flitz2, going to make some tweaks as I had to sand/trim it a bit.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Well the wait is over to have a US distributor for PMT tires. Northwest RC is now carrying them. They are a pretty penny! I Ordered a set... whoopsie https://northwestrc.com/PMT--262mm-Inflatable-Bushwheels_p_3369.html https://northwestrc.com/PMT--197mm-Inflatable-Bushwheels_p_3370.html

The falcon is going to spoil me with 4 in the pod LOL. Think I've said it before, but Oleg Golovidov (onRCG) designed the falcon and sells them there thought his web page. To be honest, with prices going up like crazy this is one of the cheaper 1.5m DLG's on the market IMO for what you're...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Man... that maiden reminds me of my H9 15cc Carbon Cub... The manual led me astray with 2" aft of the actual CG range against my better judgement of eye balling the CG near the center of lift... I trusted it... turns out they amended the manual without my prior knowledge. Read my post #35-36...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It must be a Father’s Day miracle. Mamma came home from night shift, baby and mamma down for a nap - I installed the wing servos in the Flitz2 as about happy as I could get. I learned that you can used a Trim1/2 feature in the Futaba 18SZ that is not the same as using an offset mix that was...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Spent quite a few hours attempting to achieve sweet geometric bliss with the Flitz2 ailerons and pod configurations. I have never been so frustrated and defeated in programing and geometry that I must retire to bed at 1am. Basically it's hard to get the ailerons/flaperons to do exactly what I...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Not sure, all I could find was my post about shortening the rods and posting the distance with a ruler... BUT that doesn't help you too much as I have different tires. I could measure the distance to the axel from the frame for you. I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen anyone use some carbon gear...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Nice work on the RX, I thought about it as well. The constraint is the width of my receiver. unfortunately Futaba is lacking in small 4ch full range telemetry receivers that can operate on lower voltage. I really want to have the voltage telemetry on my 1S battery and I have a bunch of R7008SB...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

@BalsaDust you’ve inspired me through my inspiration that inspired you to rethink what I had previously thunk. ROFL!! I think I’d rather use tungsten putty than that 1k LiPo so I can get the throws. Measured 8mm total throws at 140% travel from the servo arm verses 6mm at 100%. With the arm...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Nice! I was planning on the canted servo install, but it forced me to put the rx in the back and limited my battery size install. The Flitz2 tends to come out a bit tail heavy in the 75mm range from what I've been reading (should fly best at 68-70 depending on wind), and the Original Flitz has a...
