110" TIMBER Assembly Thread
Okay I decided to re-weight my plane for ya'll. DLE55RA, Falcon 23x8CF, 3" center bolt spinner, 2 pulse 2550's, XCub Gear, 8.75" PR Bushweels, 3.25" Dubro Tail Wheel... I cannot say ive heard people complain about the 35cc's being too light. If you want to hang on the prop all day long with the x cub gear and big tires than probably the 50-55cc engines are the way to go... being 21-22# loaded... but for STOL and basic aerobatics I would thing the 35-38cc...- AKNick

91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread
Whipped up an air dam for the front dump. I have FINALLY started to use Thingiverse so my .STL will be there for all to use. The AirDam is posted there to download and print yourself. I found that 25% was too much elev-flap, dialed it down to about 20% with little pitch control effort needed and just using airspeed management. I started small and worked my way up until I found the tipping point. 23% seems to be a sweet spot.- AKNick

I shall answer your question with another. why? If it's to increase roll rate than I'm sure any input would help. If you think of an arrow as it flies is very true in a spiral - adding equal amounts of up/down elevator should have the same effect and limit adverse yaw you get with full aileron...- AKNick

Two separate loops of parachute chord. Slide your wing tube on, one loop on either side of the tube. plug your wings in loosely and hang with a fish scale... this is a bit hard because it's awkward and heavy. Yeah you can dump a lot of glue into the plane thats for sure. Shoot for 5-1/8" to 5-1/4" CG. The plane seems to handle better south of 5" (w/o fuel). Seems the stall characteristics get more docile.- AKNick

Flew The Trifecta today! Electric Float plane in the morning. Gas 3D plane in the late morning. Glider in the afternoon! Other than some one float touch and goes, Hitting a little bubble of rising air took the hat with the glider. So much fun. Sorry no pic, but I did make some video... later- AKNick

A 50cc+ is ample power. I don't think the plane needs it at all. It's pretty rare I use the engine at WOT. If someone doesn't want to 3D the timber, I'd say keep it light. a 30cc will be okay, but with the heavy gear and big tires the 35-38cc at least. A 50cc is crazy power on this airframe and...- AKNick

With flaps deployed, its very slow. A little flap elevator mixing and you'll be a happy camper. You don't have that much time on it yet, In the beginning I was nervous to land slow, but rest assured it slows down great with flaps and has a better stall characteristic. With the Gas engine and a TechAero I'm getting just under 400 mAh per 14min flight. I think a 2S 950 would be a little light, but with 6min flight times on electric I think it'll work.- AKNick
