91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread

Maiden Complete!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting impatiently for some decent weather. I was able to sneak in a couple flights before the fog was getting a little risky with my plane. Bottom line is I am VERY pleased! Took some cat cam footage, so hopefully I can edit it in a reasonable amount of...

Did you finally get a printer? I remember you talking about getting a Ender 3? If you see something you like that I'm doing I can send you the file.

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

Thanks! Interesting. I see there are quite a few options. 12-15V with wattage being the largest difference. What should I be looking for in Wattage. Seems like 300w is commonly used for lights, but they go from about 10-900w from what I can find. Also, what size NiChrome or equivalent wire size...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

PR Bushwheels' owner had passed away maybe a year ago now. His son may restart the business. I had got mine used in December, always wanted a set for a future bushplane, jumped on the opportunity, and six moths later this plane came out. :big-grin: 8" AirTops are the closest a guy can get here...

EEK! The light ply seems cheap to me. Whomever put these together needs to go back to fitting and glueing 101 school.

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

I cant remember if you've talked about your hot wire setup or not? I have a 3.5ft hot wire I acquired from a friend that passed away and all it has is two alligator clips and a ground. No idea what power source to use. I've been following your build here and I don't recall you talking abut the...

Some Spectrum setups do not like Savox servos for some reason, something to do with the signal... and also they didn't like powersafe receivers. If there is a will there is a way! The front end is a little bulky and heavy if you have the large gear installed, which makes handling a bit trickier.

What radio are you running? Savox have always treated me well with my Futaba gear. HiTec makes a good servo. F150 Ext Cab short bed (6.5ft) The wings fit in the back seat no problem, and the plane sits with room in the bed. Keep in mind the horizontal tail surfaces can be removed. I always...

Right on!! @Snoopy1 is going electric. Maybe he can advise you on his setup. I'm using Savox 2274's which are overkill. The recommended servos are 270 oz/in I believe. I'd shoot for 250-300 oz/in 0.10-16 transit personally. But you can get away with less with an electric setup as you wont have...

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Did some wing rework. Cracks keep showing up around the wingroot/tube area. Probably from taking the wings on and off so much with tens of gallons worth of flights. I removed the partial section of sheeting from the wingtube to the hold down screw. Made a G10 sheet and epoxied them in place...

That wasn’t a picture of the full repair. Showing the interlocking frame that wasn’t bonded very well creating flex. Here is a better picture: The Velcro is the hook and loop tape, it’s tough, and won’t rip apart. I sandwiched it between a couple light washers. This should give a little bit...

New Product Spektrum iX20 20-Channel Smart Transmitter System

Well no... but love seeing innovative technology. Still waiting for the day to have our transmitters 100% waterproof. Lol.

I was thinking the same thing. He just barely touched the mechanical switch and it works? I do like seeing that they are implementing hall effect gimbals.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

I'm still trying to determine what needs to be repaired or not. The foam has multiple cracks and it's very hard to get to everything. As far as bracing goes, a cross (X) bracing seemed to help a bit. the structure and design itself allows some torsion in the tail section. I put some balsa...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

HH had recently started to use a new supplier/factory for their planes. So hopefully they'll get it figured out. It's disappointing to see the lack of glue along with poor fitment. After my 15cc carbon cub I was saying the same thing as you, too heavy, didn't care for all the bells and whistles...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Did a little digging. Top longeron popped loose from the former. There was another interlinking ply that had never seen glue and was popped out a bit. Lower belly foam cracked. I never did repair the other one I found. So busted out some foam tack. I’m going to add some cross bracing. Not...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Looks like the top longeron glue joint failed because it was subject to a torsion load in which it is not designed for. It will probably end up with some cross bracing between formers to alleviate this. For sure. I’ve seen other folks do this style hard mount, but it’s not the way to do it for...
