Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Tried to fly today but fought two nitro engines the whole time. Pretty sure I'm done with nitro at this point. Gonna sell it all and go all gas.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Haven't heard of the windshield washer fluid to thin it down. When I did my buddy's 33% hangar nine Edge I painted the cowl with latex paint. I thinned it down with the minwax polycrylic water based polyurethane and it worked really well.

Be warned I may just stick the transmitter in your hand for my 55cc Edge profile and say fly it and not take no for an answer. I don't mind others flying my stuff and especially on one like it that I designed I want more opinions on how it flys from other people.

Mid Virginia Radio Control Club Fun Fly

The MVRCC Club will be hosting a Fun Fly next Saturday September 23. It will start around 9 AM and go until everyone is done flying or it gets dark first. As far as I know there is still landing fee (we have never charged one before) and a BBQ lunch will be provided around noon. All aircraft...

Yes. The foam for the fuse at least does tend to build a bit heavier from what I have seen of others doing it as well. Not a lot but it is there.

A 35cc would pull this plane fine but I actually have a dle55 on the nose. Weighs 13.5lbs with the 55. I need to make a couple changes to the plane but it performs great. There are videos in this thread here. Also it's not much of a build thread but it shows the basics...

I did this one that way. Thought about it on this but I decided against it. The way I fly on 20cc and smaller I fly them hard and dork them a lot. A built up fuse with a tube is easy to repair after a dork where as the foam fuse will not be. Pretty much a guarantee that anything 30cc and larger...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Rebuilt a couple slimers. One is a thunger tiger pro46 and the other is a OS46fx. First pic is from the TT after removing the rear bearing. Bearing actually had rust flakes peaking off of it. Surprising thing is is that the engine still ran great. Was making good power and held a tune perfect...

Used my dremel tool to rout a groove in the elevator right where the two halves meet. Then epoxied in a 1/8" carbon rod.

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

In this size most deff put them too and bottom. 40 size and smaller you can get away with just one side but it's worth it to me to still do it on both sides.

Looks good. Don't forget tristock on the top and bottom of the stab to the fuse. It needs the extra support.

Lighter than I expected though after looking at it. Fuse weighs 11.242oz. For comparison an EE60 fuse in the same state is 20oz

Yeah they go fast for me at least. See a few things that need to be changed on the plans and on the plane. Not enough clearance for the elevator.
