I fear a storm is coming

Some of those eight rules cannot even be complied with anyways for the time being... such as passing a test. There is no test yet. The Transponder will most likely be an ADS-B OUT as some point, but whilst they would like this, their main focus in the US will be implementing ADS-B OUT for...

Interesting. They’ll be selling for $325 I think. He said he ordered 4x as many as the pre-buys. Sounds like they are on the barge. I’m surprised he won’t ship a Canadian airplane to Canada! If you pm your address I can ask david again for you?

Exactly! I get really excited about building planes, but the time commitment is consuming and you need a passion for whatever you are building to complete it. Which is why a lot are going up for sale. I have a 20cc DHC-2 beaver kit coming this summer that I’m excited about. That otter is...

So after today: Pretty sad to see the pile of airplanes. None were airworthy. If there was time, space and lots of labor of love these could fly again. After cleaning this up and heading to the shop it was a good reminder to myself not to become a hoarder. Check out this magazine from 1986...

Yup! Thanks for the input fellas. I was told by Morgan fuel it keeps about seven years in a dry cool area out of the sun. After that it’s questionable. There is about ten cases in a Rubbermaid shed with all the boxes deteriorated. Another ten in the dry shed. Definitely worth a try before...

Today I took point on cleaning out my flying buddies shop that passed away this spring with his son. Lots to dig through. Phase one I did with the man himself, phase two was after he passed in his house, phase four was today with his Son in the shed. Here is a before and after photo from today...

I remember 15 years ago a club in Fairbanks had a million of these flying around. I have always wanted one as well because of the great reputation they had. It would make a nice float plane to. They are also still in production.

Okay. No dibs yet. I’ll send you a pm. I’ll need to inventory it, and find a suitable price with shipping. I see radical RC sells some Ben buckle kits.

It’s a nice plane. Fortunately they are still in production. The guy who gave me the otter kit said he’d rather build a trainer one day. Specifically a kadet senior, so it’s going to him. The kadet seniorita is going to a buddy I fly with here.

Hmmm well if you guys remember I got a bunch of balsa and some kits for five bills. They told me a few weeks later to take what else I can other wise it’s going to the dump.... so a grabbed a bunch. My buddy at the LHS took most of those from me. I had set some nice kits aside so they could try...

RedwingRC Pin and Flag with Hidden Dual Battery Redundancy Switch!

As far as LiFe batteries that look like Lipos, I think they are good, but would rather use the HV option of a standard LiPo. Both I would take out to charge. The A123s are more robust, but there is a weight penalty and they tend to cost more. Usually they only come in an 1100 or 2500 size. I...

RedwingRC Pin and Flag with Hidden Dual Battery Redundancy Switch!

On my 35cc planes I run a single 2500 A123. It draws about 300mAh per a 10min flight. So up to about five flights before a recharge. Tech aero for the ign so it’s drawing off the same battery. One plane I don’t use a switch, just a single XT60 to two pigtails to the RX. The other one is similar...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Plans A vs B. Correct me if I’m wrong, A is a little more Rigid but just weighs a little more? What’s preferred? Costs about $16-20 a print at one place here for 36x80.

Playing with the super otter. Fitting my balsa cowl and trying to figure out how to cool this motor while keeping the scale lines. Might just add a couple vents and a lower opening with a little air dam in front of it. This isn’t a 3D bird, so I don’t think it’s going to overheat except that...

    Carb & Fuel Flow Question

This all makes sense to me with my issue as well. At one point with the cowl off I witnessed a loss of prime from the carb as it sat untouched. Maybe 1/2" of air from the carb inlet visible through the tubing. I'm guessing if the HS flapper check valve is not seating like it should, allowing air...

    Carb & Fuel Flow Question

This is a sore subject for me right now. Rebuilt my DA35 carb. Marked and reset the needles to exactly where they were before and my engine would not want to leave idle, could baby it up to mid range and then it would die. Classic case of an air leak, bad plug cap, or lean high. Ran the engine...
