    Good to know thanks! Looks like they just backed up the bolts and rod ends with washers. Not a bad idea for "softer" material especially.

    Put my new horizontal and elevators on, added an extra hinge on the outboard side to help with the vibration. Instead of glueing in the rlevator joiners and cutting them off, I inserted balsa, and covered with some scrap monocote. My only roadblock now is control horns. I was making some out of...

    Just found this too! Ignition power wire chafed through the insulation. I cut it off and crimped new ends on. The plastic looming was also a bad idea, it was chafing into the insulation. I wrapped that in heat shink and called it a day.

    Put new canopy pegs and made little disc retainers to take up the slop on the 71" Slick.

    looked like a down/cross wind landing! Nice flying plane. I haven't been hearing much on the DLE40cc nor the revised VVRC 40cc nor the RCGF 40cc! been pretty quiet. Like to see your thoughts on performance.

    Ok I just found this out. The second batch of carbon Cubs have an amendment to the center of gravity. This is why mine flew so cruddy. Old manual = 151-159mm or 5 7/8-6 1/4 New manual = 100-120mm!!!! I am so lucky to still have it in one piece! Once I fix the tail wheel, retune the engine...

    I like the building board idea. I've always done foam board, the the particle or MDF with cork on the top (48" by 20") sounds like a nice idea.

    Maiden complete.... Engine is still very finicky. Had to richen it more inside the cowl. Full power takeoff was scale, I really wanted more power. Plane tracked strait w/no trim but was super touchy. The wind picked up and was swirling around so that didn't help the over all feel of the plane...
