I too have my FCC license :) (GROL) but am not into Amateur Radio. An old friend of mine said that if you visited a club and brought a model airplane, members should always be happy to help and watch you fly your model. I love being "experienced" enough to be able to assist folks flying. . . "It...

This presents a good example of this FAA registration. So it's your "UAS", with potentially your number on it, operated by someone else... So would that mean the operator would have to have their number affixed to the aircraft ??? Interesting scenario

That sounds fun, would be tricky for me living in Alaska and all. But Portland is relatively close, have friends there too. It's expensive to ship a larger plane, especially with size restrictions for oversize baggage, ect. May just have to get a couple electrics that fit in a box... Hmmmmm

32F here, temps supposed to drop to 15F by Christmas, then a few inches of that white fluffy stuff. I'm sure a lot of you don't worry about temperature cutoffs for your internal combustion engines (or fingers!) - I wont fly my non-electrics 34F and under... too hard to start and by the time you...

Anybody playing with LiHV cells? Seems intriguing to a certain standard. I think I read somewhere that they are a LiCo Chemistry?? Lithium Colbalt Oxide?? dunno, but fun to see new stuff like this coming out on the market.

    Registration of UAS

So true. Like I said, It not going to go away... I know that my name is searchable as a licensed aircraft mechanic on the FAA database... Hasn't affected me yet! So I'm not too worried about it, but I don't agree with the whole ruling for the record.

    Registration of UAS

So my local in at the Feds office said that he'd hold off on registering as well until the website gets a little more fine tuned, and if any modifications are made to the ruling prior to January 20th. I'll try and get more info out of him as it allows. Anyways that's my 2 cent update

I've been tinkering with ideas lately as well. The choke control couldn't have been more poorly situated. I tried a little standoff like what you did, but it hit the engine mount. DA is using a Walbro carb, but they etched the numbers out so you cannot decipher the model... so it's not their...

    Registration of UAS

Website works for me, the site says online registration should come online sometime today. Of course it isn't and I hope it doesn't.

Thanks Mike, I also really like DA's method for mounting the ignition bracket, makes so much sense. I wonder why they only went with three tabs instead of four?

Mounted the DA Ignition Box. Ended up using 4-40 allen head bolts with blind nuts installed with epoxy.
