Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Here's the parts after the non sanding sealer was applied. This takes 20 minutes or so the cure before the color is applied. In my case I'm using white acrylic enamel paint with hardener. I had quite a few sand throughs that's why elected to use the sealer. I gave a good base and one coat...

Yes that is the problem with the Stits system and the main reason I used Stewards System on the Champ. My wife was a little disappointed when see saw the Dexter Morgan cut room going up. I had it up for a couple of weeks when I painted the Super Cub Fuselage.

Have everything sanded and the Dexter Morgan cut room just about set up, just a little more Tuck Tape! Should put the color to the wings tomorrow morning. Laying down a coat of Omni MP231 white non sanding sealer first, then the white color.

Primed the wings and tips yesterday, a little more sanding and they will be ready for color.

I deemed the control surfaces good enough for guide coat today. Thinking I might prime the wings and tips on Sunday and possibly paint next week. Had to come with a method to hold the parts so they can be turned during the color coat. I think I'm good now. The corrugations are a PIA!

Dis a little sanding, filling, and priming, about 80% ready. Maybe two more sessions.

These may help. I don't remember where I found these.

This coding thing catches on, thinking about making RPM/Voltage/Temperature hub for the plane as well. Thinking 1 RPM, 1 Voltage and 4+ temp sensors on the same board used for the controller. With enough temp sensors one can better evaluate the effectiveness of the baffling.

A little update here. The code for the controller was written for using the BMP280 baro/temp sensor that communicates with I2C protocol . I have no idea what I2C is but when the sensor would fail it would lock the controller up. I reached out to the author of the code and his comment was it...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Getting a mini split installed this week in my second floor bedroom, the cool air from the A/C just doesn't make it up two floors, of course the weather is in the 70's and low 60's at night! Oh well it is a heat pump as well. Building season is on the way.

Heading to Centerburg OH on Friday for the CORKS scale competition, will be flying in Pro Am Division 1 Sportsman class with the Super Cub. Took second place at the Columbus Scale Classic in the same class, hope I can repeat!

    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

I used a "T" pin and glue to simulate stitching on the Super Cub. I thought that Dynamic Balsa sold simulated stitching and reinforcing tape but I could not find it there. I think getting the spacing correct is more important than how the bump looks, but that's just my opinion. Note the rib...

Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

Both my Champ and Super Cub weight 39 pounds, had 5 1/2" Dubro wheels on the Champ and 5 5/8" Dubro pneumatic wheels on the Cub. The 5 1/2"wheel on the Champ worked very well. I think it is best to support the plane on the landing gear rather than the wheels for long term storage.

Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

You can get bungee cord in many diameters, my Super Cub uses 1/8" cord. I found on the Champ that stiffer springs work better. I had 50 pound per inch springs that just barely deflected at rest, anything less a perfect greased landing the plane bounced. At a scale contest last year, was...

Good luck with the changes Snoop, you need to get some rubber in there to adsorb the energy rather than store it, bungees work great.
