The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Haven’t found anything I forgot I had but found stuff I didn’t know where it was at. I know moving to this new space in the basement I need to do a better job using the 9-1/2’ tall walls. I meen come on not many people can say they have a basement that has that y’all of ceilings. Most I have...

Good progress made on shop move last night. I think I see my table saw that I had lost. Lol. Thinking in the area I’m moving the shop too that since the water softener, pressure tank, and dehumidifier have to stay there that I’m going to condense them a big. Pressure tank will stay put but water...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Understand the feeling. The two planes I'm currently designing both will be laser cut and for the most part will not need plans at all to build as everything will just key together.

This is true but mine had never gotten this bad before. There will be pluses and minuses though to this move of my shop. Only real minus is it will be a slightly smaller space. benefits though will be a wall added to block it off from the rest of the basement so I can better contain dust, no...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I'm embarrassed to say this is what my shop looks like right now which is part of my total lack of motivation to do anything in it. Happy to say this is where it's all moving too though. Wife wanted to get the basement nice and clean which involves my shop moving from one side to the other...

Agree to go with all four servos if you radio can do it. A 20cc should provide good scale flying. 30cc if it will fit would provide good power.

Very nice. I need to finish building my new power supply I had gotten to upgrade from my smaller computer power supply.

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

It could be where larger sets of plans can be off drastically because of the paper swelling and shrinking with the amount of humidity in the air. A buddy of mine was building a 55cc One Design Kit. Was supposed to have a 85” wingspan but if you actually put a tape measure on the plans to check...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

I’ve been using our mini mill/ lathe combo at work the past few days and it’s really making me want to get something for home.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Nice. That's the same scroll saw I have and I love it. Only issue I have had with it is the adjusting stud on the top arm for how much clamping force goes on the blade broke. I just put a nut and bolt in it and called it a day. I also bought a small lamp with a fully flexible arm and magnetic...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Its something I didn't draw in on those plans I don't think but I would use a piece of 1/8" ply. Just cut a circle with the proper sized hole drilled in the middle of it.

Yep all sheeting is 1/16". Even sheer webs are 1/16" balsa. I built a 55cc version of this the exact same way and it held up just fine.

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Looks good. LE sheeting only needed to go to the sub spar though and TE only needed to be able an inch wide. Wont affect anything just adds a little weight and maybe a little stronger.

They are easy. Just remember bank and yank and you will prolly do like I do every time I fly one for the first time in a while and start cussing wondering why the rudder is so ineffective and then remember "OH yeah it doesn't have a rudder"

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Mine is a Delta but it has three wheels in it. Absolute pain in the butt to get the blade tracking in the right spot and even then unless cutting something soft like balsa the blade will start to follow the grain of the wood.

That looks good @Bartman. I have a Gillows ME-109 kit I have always intended to convert as well just never gotten around to it.

Frustrated with trying to figure out a certain portion of the WWI looking plane I have been drawing up I decided to step away for a little bit to let the frustration go away. Inspired by a guy over on rcg who has designed a bunch of different micro versions of classic gliders I decided to give...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

I personally vote heck no too them as I think they look horrible. Also experience says from building and flying a 44” electric version, 56” nitro version, and a 55cc gas version tells me it will not need them. Focus on building light and you will be rewarded with a light yet strong amazing...
