    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

DISCONTINUED :cryin: I've looked on Tower Hobbies and Horizon hobby and the plane is no longer available and shows as discontinued. :( The Timber 110" line has apparently ended unless something online is wrong. The Prototypes were at Joe Nall Sept 2018 Release date with promotional video May...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

I think there is enough lifting surface on the Slats to provide a little extra wing area, so I'd imagine it cannot hurt. I haven't found of a way that would make them removable without destroying the slat in the process. I was thinking of just ordering them, but at $80 for the pair... forget that!

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

I keep looking at my slats. They weren't built very well - one is good enough to throw on, but the other one has a nasty step in the balsa, a crack, and a broken attach point. . . I dont really want to recover, also no sure why there appears to be no LE airfoil on them... dunno, but it does make...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Interesting! It's like they dropped the floor 1/2". I had Ali ask me about some issues I was having being one of the earlier designs and he said he was trying to fix them at the factory. Nice to see that they keep improving the design. I did notice you're flying the LE devices and I'm not yet -...

    Prop balancing

I would! Need to be careful with the painted carbon props - as they are messy with the paint and get buildup within the center hub that would throw your balance off.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Well I did go flying! For about 7-8min before a rain cloud came and ruined my session. It was unfortunate as my truck was a little trek away. My poor Timber got drenched before I got it in the back of the truck... really wish the wings popped on and off like a SkyWing plane. Here’s the...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Got ready to go flying and ended up having to do some maintenance. New choke rod, and my lower ply engine mount seam was popped. Mixed up some epoxy and added some tri-stock.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Alright!! My timber flies pretty true, no engine shims required. It’s about 5.125” CG thrust angle issues are easy to figure out I think. If at idle putting along you have it trimmed out for level flight and you give it half+ throttle you should see if the engine wants to push it down or up...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Weather has been terrible. We had the second wettest May on record. Already had a few inches of rain in June... Finally got to maiden my Ahi, winds were light and just a few feet in altitude gains but it flew great! had a flying buddy join me with his arm soar deviant. Thing flew extremely...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Awesome! Fun to see what you do from another point of view. Got me itching to get my Flitz2 up. Just been mapping out the pod for a layout and got a couple battery options in the mail to see what I'll end up with. If you haven't yet, I found this lecture from Joe Wurts to be very educational...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

R985 Detailing. I couldn’t remember where I left off... but I made pushrods, designed and 3D Printed an ignition harness.... yeah... LOL Used 20AWG servo wire for my ignition leads. Not too bad! Worth the effort. Now I need to glue it to the cowling.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The black should break it up nicely. even with some squares like a lot of the 3D ships have would be beneficial. I wonder if it'll handle a 4S battery? It's hard to beat the sticker price.

Nah, keep it light! I like it! I'm really curious on how this puppy flies. There are a few spots I'd like to try gliding at that are risky/coastal/high tree density that I'd like to scout out with an electric glider first.

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

With 10 grams of weight savings over the 3DPrinted mold and an increased temp resilience (I hope), I think it was a fun experience to learn something new! also, I supported the lower cowl air exits with carbon tow and a little piece of glass where the cowl likes to oil can a bit.

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

I must be crazy, I ended up making a 3D Printed baffle mold in CAD and glassed the waxed mold, cut to pop it off, then glassed it back shut. FWIW I did three light layers of glass

Gap sealed the ailerons with matching ultracote cut to 3/4” strips. Used an incredibly dull hole punch for the hinges as the crinkling sound is just too much for me. LOL

Wingtip update. Turns out the high heat method followed by mini iron circles is the absolute worst for removing the film if need be. . . I spent HOURS removing the covering in preparation for paint. Ended up with four light coats of paint. I may clear coat it in a week.
