Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

After learning my supplied rudder linkage wasn’t going to work (nylon fitting wouldnt thread on) I finally figure out what would. Modified a Redwing push rod. Ground the wrench flats off, bent to mimic the original - except a bit longer, and inline with the rudder hinge gap. Then cut to length.

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Seen a guy on a FB group that had made a little access hole for the rudder linkage. I figured why not! So I made one just in case I need access to the connection. Pretty much just made a little oval hole with some doublers just below the stab doubler, and used a couple little countersunk screws...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Using some old ribbon cable that was given to me, I started routing the light system. ypu can tell this was an afterthought based on how everything is routed. Instead of going through the formers and ribs, I went around them. Not a big deal. Used superglue and kicker to adhere them. for the...

    The Knife Edge Spin

Check out 1:56-2:08 in this video I made a while back. Carried a lot of energy through that Kinfeedge spin... it was more of a knife edge blender LOL

Sure is! It's an old TMAXX shock strut. It does toe in the skis a bit being off center, but not that bad. Got some video, looking forward to putting something out with it!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Welcome back! Got a full blown farm going on there. Little breaks are good from time to time. It rekindles the passion sometimes. I cleaned my workspace up... which is helping me scratch the itch to finish projects!

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Thanks Mike! Trying to keep this project rolling! I’m eager to cover it! So many little details! speaking of details, I’ve been thinking... I want to design and make a PCB board for my light system that I designed years ago. Probably outdated, but it’ll be a fun project none the less. Would be...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Got some tinker time today. Hinged the ailerons and flaps with my robart hinges, added some spacers to get my control surface gaps right. My plans are off a bit due to shrinkage. But it looks good now. I will be adding LED lights, so decided to start cutting the wing tips to accommodate them...

I bent the piece that goes into that center section a bit. I don't remember it being that hard to bend.

Seems like there are a few ways. For me, I had to elongate some of the holes in on the attaching brackets to the fuselage. It takes a lot of fiddling. I even had to bend my forward cross struts a bit to nestle into the center bracket. It worked for me... but yeah, you just gotta dive into it.

It definitely wants to fall towards the tires when in a hover. The DLE55 has no problem hovering this plane. Feels like the tail could be a foot longer though LOL.

My wife is a Nurse in Critical Care, she was among the first to get it here. I was about four weeks after her to get mine. Working for the airline and being her spouse were contributing factors for me getting the vaccine. I am very thankful and I hope you all don’t have to wait long.

Well it's been miserable weather here... still. I'll agree with you @Snoopy1 It's been the worst flying weather than I can remember. Today it was gusting up to 50mph, got about 1.5" of rain, roughly 39F, and a constant 80% relative humidity. Snow is pretty much all gone. Feels like October! At...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Been tinkering with the otter float rigging. Man what a pain, sooooo many angles. Since I don’t have a tig welder, I silver soldered the wires together. Aft a lot of trial and error this is looking promising. One of the blocks in the float is off unfortunately. Needs to be about 1.5”...
