91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread
Got some goodies from Tim at NWRC. Blue fuel dot so I can finish my fuel line routing. Then slapped a coat of polyurethane on the firewall to preserve it. Finished setting up my wing and tail linkages at neutral. Need to bust the protractor out now. Still need to set up my throttle...- AKNick

I saw that too. I don’t know how they can get the correct geometry with that setup. I’ll have to look back in the other posts, but I crossed the wires and used a 3-3.5” offset arm- AKNick

Been working on my wings now. One thing I’m learning about skywing carbon planes is the carbon is very thin. Think of it as a carbon vernier over thin ply. If bonded correctly it is strong and light... however it’s not very good under compression. Look the plane over by pressing on the surface...- AKNick

Skywing even includes a fuel tank vent line fitting. How neat is that!?! This polyline goes on soooo much easier if you warm it up for a couple seconds.- AKNick

I have the Ender 3 and the CR-10S. The ender 3 is a small CR10. It’s a perfect size for what we do. I would definitely recommend it. Lots of online help and upgrades for it. But it prints great right out of the box.- AKNick

3D Printed ignition holder done. Printed it slow for better quality, ended up at 4.5hrs. But it fits like a glove! Unfortunately it’s too wide to mount on the firewall. So on the engine box it goes. Marking mounts now.- AKNick

Setting up the tail. Rudder Control Horn inner hole is 1.5” and the servo arm is 1.5” fun fact... if you set up your dual rates and leave it on low rates you’ll chase your tail wondering why you don’t have the throws.... duh! 2” elevator arms, 1.75” hole. Lowest hole on the elevator control...- AKNick

AR MagSwitch Booma RC
Saw that Booma RC has redesigned the Pin Flag Switch yet AGAIN!! It's the one that I got, and installed in my 91" ARS, but they now made a hard case around it, and gives the user an option to purchase a Pin Flag, Magnetic Switch, or a FOB switch. I was talking with Tim @ NWRC, and he showed me a picture of his, it looked the same, and the exhaust all escaped out just fine to my surprise! His picture showed just a tiny bit of residue around the circumference. SO I may just leave it alone, and maybe build up a little glass/epoxy around...- AKNick

Working on the cowl a bit. Slapped the mufflers on and cut some exit holes for them. With the bottom of the cowl touching the firewall, I pivoted it up until the front cyl muff touches. Mark with a pencil and let the dremel do the rest. A lot of on and off, but super easy with how big this thing...- AKNick
